CLT elements

Eridomic is a part of Stora Enso’s Building Solutions unit. Stora Enso is the biggest wood products manufacturer in Europe. Products and solutions manufactured from cross-laminated massive timber boards, i.e. CLT boards, have enjoyed tremendous success in Europe, and now Eridomic is now offering them in the Finnish market.

CLT is a massive wood building material consisting of bonded, cross-laminated single layers called lamellas. The layers vary in thickness and can number 3, 5, 7 or more. Formaldehyde-free and environmentally friendly adhesives are employed for bonding. The cross structure of CLT components guarantees integral stability.

Stora Enso manufactures CLT in large, 2.95 x 16 m boards, which enables fast construction and minimises the butt joints between the boards. The structure is very air-tight. The tailor-made, ready-to-install construction boards are manufactured at Stora Enso’s factory in Austria and shipped to Eridomic in Finland. Eridomic manufactures CLT elements from the CLT boards in Pälkäne by installing insulation, exterior cladding, windows and doors in the boards, according to the customers’ specifications.

CLT boards and elements are also suitable for use by prefabricated house factories and smaller construction companies, for example in the construction of single-family homes and areas of grouped buildings. With CLT, the frame for a detached house can even be erected in just one day. And achieving a passive level for the house can be accomplished cost efficiently. CLT can also be used as a material for intermediate flooring in houses, and even as a roof structure for large halls.
